Zulfikar Ali Piyada is an Indian social worker and social activist, known particularly for advancing health and education for those who are genuinely deprived of mainstream services. He was born on 16 June 1980 in Lakshminarayanpur, in the district of South 24 Parganas.
His grandfather, Nazibul Islam Piyada, was also a social worker and contributed greatly to the upliftment of society. He founded Lakshminarayanpur B.H.M. High School (H.S.) by donating his own land. He also founded Purba–Lakshminarayanpur Jame Masjid and Lakshminarayanpur F.P. School. Moreover, he helped many poor and distressed people in terms of health and education.
His father, Salem Ahmed Piyada, founded Hesamabad Baurchak F.P. School by contributing his own land. He also consecrated the Lakshminarayanpur Id-Field on his own land. In addition to the Id-Field, he established Lakshminarayanpur Choturpally Madrasah. He made many contributions to society.
Naturally, Zulfikar Ali Piyada followed this lineage. He felt a burning desire to do something for poor and deprived people, not only in his own district but across Bengal. He was admitted to Al Ameen Mission in 1991 as a student and began his professional life at Al Ameen Mission in 2013. During his service there, he was deeply influenced by the founder of Al Ameen Mission, M. Nurul Islam, who has been striving to bring a historically disadvantaged Muslim community into the mainstream of education. He was also inspired by the life and work of Alhaj Maruf Azam (co-founder of Al Ameen Mission) and the late Hasem Mallick Saheb (co-founder of Al Ameen Mission). Thus, he resolved to do something meaningful for society.
He founded a social institution named 'Manabata'. Manabata has been working not only in Bengal but also outside Bengal. Besides health and education, Manabata is committed to disaster management, women's empowerment, environmental awareness, and supporting elderly men and women who are deprived of family support. It has already worked in Midnapore, Hooghly, Sundarban, Kolkata, and other places. Moreover, it aims to help students pursue higher education by providing scholarships. It has opened Manabata Community Coaching Centers in different districts for students up to Class IV who lack family support. In the field of health, Manabata aims to establish health centers in every district of Bengal. Manabata Blood Fighter is a branch of Manabata that provides blood not only in Kolkata and different districts of Bengal but also outside Bengal. Needless to say, the idea of Manabata was born in the mind of Zulfikar Ali Piyada. Thus, he has been relentlessly trying to make it a success.
